*Here at GOODY 4 PAWS we understand that sometimes little things get in the way of grooming your dog, weeks go bye and before you know it matted dog!!!! let’s face it LIFE HAPPENS!!!!! We at Goody 4 Paws won’t judge you or make you feel guilty instead we will offer a helpful solution. We can offer a free assessment of your pet’s coat and then help you decide the best course of action. Your pet’s happiness and welfare are of the single most importance. We will only remove matted coats when it is ethically possible to do so. The removal of a matted coat can be done with an extended grooming appointment N.B (you will be required to sign a disclaimer and an added charge of £25.00 will be incurred on top of your usual groom price) If there is a welfare issue and the removal of your pets coat breaches any of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 guidelines then we will be more than happy to refer you to our local veterinary surgeon who will happily provide you with an estimate of coat removal under sedation or general anesthetic.*
Animal welfare Act 2006
The welfare of all animals is protected by the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which makes it an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal. The Act also contains a duty of care to animals – anyone responsible for an animal must take reasonable steps to make sure the animal’s welfare needs are met.
Health – Protection from pain, injury, suffering and disease and treated if they become ill or injured.
Behaviour – the ability to behave naturally for their species.
Matted coats are a breach of The Animal Welfare Act 2006, penalties for neglect and cruelty, including fines of up to £20,000, a maximum jail term of 51 weeks and a lifetime ban on some owners keeping pets.
