Our Matted Fur Policy

*Here at GOODY 4 PAWS we understand that sometimes little things get in the way of grooming your dog, weeks go bye and before you know it matted dog!!!! let’s face it LIFE HAPPENS!!!!!

We at Goody 4 Paws won’t judge you or make you feel guilty instead we will offer a helpful solution. We can offer a free assessment of your pet’s coat and then help you decide the best course of action. Your pet’s happiness and welfare are of the single most importance. We will only remove matted coats when it is ethically possible to do so.

The removal of a matted coat can be done with an extended grooming appointment N.B (you will be required to sign a disclaimer and an added charge starting at £25.00 will be incurred on top of your usual groom price) If there is a welfare issue and the removal of your pets coat breaches any of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 guidelines then we will be more than happy to refer you to our local veterinary surgeon who will happily provide you with an estimate of coat removal under sedation or general anesthetic.* If a dog has excessively matted ears, bleeding at the tips of the ear can occur when the matting is removed, this is because the delicate blood vessels have been restricted by the tight matted hair and releasing this pressure means blood rushes to the tips of the ears and can cause the ears to split at the tip. Obviously, we will do everything we can to avoid this happening, but it is sometimes unavoidable, so please be aware that there is a possibility it could happen. If it does happen, we would recommend taking your dog to the vet for a check-up, explaining that the ears have been trimmed due to excessive matting. Due to matting sometimes trauma can occur to the skin and body glue or staples may be needed by your vet. Skin trauma is sometimes unavoidable in matted dogs so we strongly advise to avoid this happening by brushing your dog properly as vet fees can prove to be costly to the owner.

Goody 4 Paws does not cover any vets fees that arise from matted dogs the owner is 100% responsible for covering any cost once the matted dog disclaimer is signed.

Goody 4 Paws will always act in the best interests of your dog and we reserve the right to interrupt or abandon the groom of any dog or cat for the safety of the pet and groomer.
