About this course
Hand stripping is a skilled grooming technique where the dead coat is removed to allow for new growth, creating a natural looking finish. It is particularly well known as the best grooming method for wire coated dog breeds such as Border Terriers, German Wire Haired Pointers or Irish Wolf Hounds but also used in silky coated breed styles such as Cocker Spaniels or Schnauzers. The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Hand Stripping qualification course will take you through the theory of wire and silk coated breeds and different hand stripping methods, techniques and tools to use and their benefits. Sonja Oliver

Our Director, Your Teacher...

Hi my name is Sonja Oliver. I have been involved with animals since a very young age everything from Show jumping horses as a teen to Crufts Best of Breed Titled breeder and professional Handler. I am also a Kennel Club National and international approved championship Show Judge which has taken me to judging appointments as close as Neath or as far as Australia. We are very proud to be kennel club Assured breeders holding 3 accolades. My whole working life has revolved around veterinary practice and I gave 30 years to vet nursing and practice management, add to this my experience as a fully qualified dog groomer and teacher makes for quite a bit of knowledge on everything dog related.

I established Goody 4 Paws in 2011. Then moving to our new purposed built grooming academy in 2020 our beautiful new salon sports all the mod cons for your pets comfort ,safety and welfare. Why not pop in and meet the rest of the team, we work very closely with local colleges and offer opportunities to school leavers and young adults to join our team for a 12 month period some of which are still employed by us after finishing their college courses. Goody 4 paws was established in 2011 until July 2020 we occupied space in a local veterinary surgery. In July 2020 we opened our purposed built building that houses all our services along with a separate dog lounge. I wanted to bring all my veterinary and grooming knowledge to develop a place where owners can openly walk in any time they like. Here at goody 4 paws we have nothing to hide, owners are welcome to stay with their pets during their groom if they so wish. We are veterinary and local government licenced and inspected fully insured and qualified.
